About us

It all started in 1976, with a small group of devotees and a big dream — Sri Sri Radha Madanmohan Mandir. Nobody could have imagined then how far it would go. Fifty years on, this temple has become home to lakhs of people across Hyderabad, all of them shaped in some way by kirtan, seva, and the teachings Srila Prabhupada gave us. That’s what we’re celebrating this year — half a century of devotion, of community, of grace that’s carried us this far. And we want to celebrate it properly. Four days, full of life: sand art, the Russian Kirtan Band, classical dance, the Boat Festival, and a Shobha Yatra winding through the streets of Hyderabad. Come join us — August 15th to 18th, 2026, at the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally, every evening from 4 to 9 PM. Fifty years is a big deal, and we’d love for you to be part of it.

His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada
Founder Acharya International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON)

When His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami (who later became known as Srila Prabhupada) entered the port of New York City on September 17, 1965, few Americans took notice — but he was not merely another immigrant.  He was on a mission to introduce an ancient religion, which originated in India, into mainstream America.  Before Srila Prabhupada passed away on November 14, 1977, at the age of 81, his mission proved successful.  He had founded the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) and saw it grow into a worldwide confederation of more than 100 temples, ashrams and cultural centers.
Srila Prabhupada was born Abhay Charan De on September 1, 1896 to a practicing Hindu family in Kolkata.  As a youth growing up in British-controlled India, Abhay became involved with Mahatma Gandhi’s civil disobedience movement to secure independence for his nation. A 1922 meeting with a prominent scholar and religious leader, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati, proved most influential on Abhay’s future calling.
